Swyx
Swyx argues that data engineers are currently more valuable than narrowly defined “AI engineers.” His distinction is between someone who can assemble a RAG demo and someone who deeply understands data-intensive systems, a capability he says is seeing unusually strong demand. Latent Space is hiring for that profile, with relocation and visa support available.

OpenAI’s Thibault Sottiaux
Thibault Sottiaux says OpenAI worked with OpenCode to restore affected OpenAI API customers and refund credits consumed during an attack. He also points defenders to Daybreak Blue, OpenAI’s cyber-permissive environment, stressing that teams should secure access before an incident rather than during one.

Peter Yang
Peter Yang advocates replacing much of the hiring interview loop with paid, realistic work trials. A candidate who can ship an actual feature in two weeks gives a company stronger evidence than a month of interviews, while producing useful work along the way. He also plans to release a free open-source skill and tutorial video later this week.

Anthropic’s Thariq
Anthropic’s Thariq sees a possible shift in games: making the game may become as entertaining as playing it. He is exploring an open-source game whose central loop lets players vibe-code their own characters while the system balances them, turning creation itself into gameplay.

Vercel CEO Guillermo Rauch
Guillermo Rauch used DeepSeek V4.1 Flash through Vercel AI Gateway to improve a small game, adding sound, collision detection, a better ramp, and a following camera for about $0.30. The useful signal is not the novelty of code generation, but how cheaply a model can now complete a bundle of concrete product refinements.

Box CEO Aaron Levie
Aaron Levie argues that agent swarms will turn many knowledge-work domains into compute-constrained systems. Research, testing, cybersecurity, life sciences, trading, and data processing are limited today by human planning and coordination; agents that use tools, write code, review work, and coordinate could parallelize those workflows, making token budget and compute a new competitive variable.

Y Combinator CEO Garry Tan
Garry Tan predicts that AsideAI will become a standard companion for agent users within roughly a year. The post is brief, but the bet is clear: agent workflows will need a dedicated supporting layer rather than living only inside coding or chat interfaces.

No Priors: Beam: The Great American Open Model with ReflectionAI Co-Founder and CEO Misha Laskin
The Takeaway: Frontier AI has shifted from an open-ended science problem toward a brutally integrated engineering and economics problem, and open models can catch up efficiently before they reach the frontier’s full cost curve.
Reflection AI co-founder and CEO Misha Laskin, previously a reinforcement-learning researcher at Google DeepMind, describes building Beam, a 500-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts model with 23 billion active parameters. Reflection grew from roughly 30 to 300 people because success requires getting dozens of interlocking elements right: talent, data, compute, infrastructure, pre-training, synthetic data, and reinforcement learning. As he puts it, “You actually have to get 30 things right.”
The counterintuitive point is that post-training can now consume more compute than pre-training. Beam’s pre-training used about 6,000 GB300 GPUs for weeks, while reinforcement learning used over 10,000 GB300s for four weeks. Laskin says the RL system kept improving rather than naturally plateauing, making further capability gains increasingly an economic choice about where additional compute creates value. He estimates catching the frontier has risen from hundreds of millions of dollars to billions, while pushing the frontier may soon require tens of billions. Yet model-assisted research is also accelerating efficiency, potentially offsetting some of that cost growth.
His broader thesis is optimistic for engineering employment: core model teams may stabilize in the hundreds, but applying models to real-world capabilities creates demand for many evaluation-oriented deployed engineers.

正如他说的:“You actually have to get 30 things right.”
